First Day of Kindergarten

The rite of passage has come and gone. My baby Gator is now a big boy at a big boy school. He began his school career today. I pray that it is the beginning of a wonderful time of his life and that learning, playing, and developing new friendships come easily and naturally for him. I am confident that my boy will shine and will be a joy to his classroom.

His teacher is Ms. Sarah Johnson and she is everything you would expect a kindergarten teacher to be: sweet, upbeat, friendly, and a little on the short side so she can get down on their level easily. :) Her classroom is decorated in fun colors with lots of bumblebees everywhere. Everywhere you look is an opportunity to learn something new, such as a scale, a big clock the kids can learn to tell time with, pretend money, and of course lots of ABCs and 123s. I'm so excited for Gator and I can't wait to watch him develop over this year.

For his first day, we got up early. He had already picked out his favorite shirt for the first day, a red polo with a shark on it, courtesy of Grandmammy and Grandpappy. He helped me pack his Spiderman lunchbox (thanks Grandma & Papaw) with all of his favorite stuff. He requested a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, cucumbers & tomatoes, grapes, a pickle, and a string cheese. I can't believe the healthy choices considering his mommy's eating habits! Then we all drove partway to school but had to park so far away that we probably should have just walked the whole way. On the way, Nathan practiced heavy, deep breathing. He learned in Tae Kwon Do when he's nervous or scared to take 10 deep breaths. He denied any nervousness, but the hyperventilating gave him away! Lauren, Daddy and I all dropped him off for the big day and I snapped a few pictures. He was totally cool with a hug and a goodbye. I didn't even cry - choked up only slightly.

When I asked how his first day went this afternoon, he could not stop talking about a little girl named Sierra so it appears he has a friend ;) He even says she's the prettiest girl in class but that I'm still the prettiest girl in the world. What a sweetheart.
Here we grow.......................

Mommy & Me

Just a couple of cute pics Robin captured of me and my babies.
Nathan starts kindergarten tomorrow!!!!!! I'm one of those moms who will be bringing the camera along to drop him off. I can't wait to hear how he does. I'm sure it is going to be a very exicting year for my little man. :-) I'll update soon!

Did you know...

that I'm hiding the cutest baby on earth in my house right now? :-) Just wanted to share some pictures of Lauren Faith. Daddy and Gator are at Schlitterbahn today so I decided to play dress up with my baby doll on my lunch break. I think she's so cute it hurts.

Update on Wheeler Life

Things are going great around here. I'm officially back at work and Daddy is a part-time stay-at-home-dad. He's loving his new job and I'm so grateful we don't have to put Lauren in daycare. I think this is the reason she has stayed illness-free to date, Thank God. Poor Gator had caught the tummy bug, a cold and RSV by the time he was 5 months old thanks to daycare. I eventually had to quit my job because he was just never well. RSV was what threw us over the edge. I'm so grateful to my job allowing me to work from home part time so that Doug and I can be full-time parents. It's fairly easy right now because Lauren sleeps so much.

We had a birthday party for Nathan's big 5 a couple of weeks ago. He had a great time with his little buddies. I just can't believe he's already 5!

My nanny came to see us last weekend and she met Lauren for the first time. It was great to see her and I miss her already. I really think Lauren favors my grandmother and mom a lot. One of these days I'll get a picture of my mom with Lauren.

I did manage to get a pic of my dad with her.

We bought a new car because the little Escape had had enough and we had had enough of it! I'm now the official owner of a Mom Car, a Ford Freestyle. It reminds me of a cross between a station wagon and an SUV. Too bad the back row seats don't face backwards - that would really take me back to my childhood!

And of course, no day is complete without a crying fit... ...or a beautiful smile from our precious baby girl!
